Adults use different methods of Punishment for Girls & Boys

An in-depth study concluded that adults tend to discipline boys & girls in a very different manner.
This rule applies primarily to our scholastic procedures, but also reflects the parental attitudes, as well.

People use reasoning whenever dealing with girls.
Whereas, forceful-action is the standard method of disciplining boys.
Also, girls are rarely given consequence to their actions.
Rather instead, she is treated as a mature adult.
While, boys are often disciplined as if he's a mere child.

Basically, girls are unlikely to face the same type of humiliation, as boys. The adults are more concerned with her benefiting from the experience.

Interestingly, the study also showed that, the type of methods used against boys prove to be ineffective. In other words, it's better to show respect for the boy, than to belittle him. If anything, harsh & humiliating punishments will only cause anger and hostility.

It's also obvious, that boys receive punishment by overzealous teachers. They enact strict penalties in an overly impulsive manner. So, for example: a boy gets kicked out-of-class, merely because he spoke out-of-turn.

Teachers avoid giving penalties to girls, because they're aware that it causes senseless pain to the pupil. And, it also accomplishes nothing.

I've already dealt with the issue of corporal punishment on a separate blog.

We can now take this argument to a higher level. Parents often deal with boys by using methods of exclusion & alienation. Wheras, such tactics are never used against girls. It's common for boys to get kicked-out-of-the-house, if he's gotten into mischief. This same rule applies to teenage pregnancy, as well. The parents of the girl are usually quite supportive. While, it's likely for the male to be removed from his parents household.
On a less severe rationale, teenage boys are usually forced to pay rent, to their parents. Whereas, females are never expected to meet such a requirement.

Boys are also told to pay for their own clothing, and necessities. While, the parents continue providing for their daughters.
Hey, that's life. And, I should stop complaining.... Right?

Now, on a more advanced level, this essay could easily apply to our Family Courts, as well as, our Correctional Facilities. Men often receive harsh sentences for moderate offenses, while females receive light penalties, even when they commit severe crimes.

Also, Womens' Prisons are better-maintained, and cleaner. And, more freedom is given to the female inmates. By the way, the most casual observer will notice these factors upon entering prisons, both for men & for women.

OH, THERE'S ONE FINAL TWIST TO THIS ENTIRE ESSAY. THE MEDIA HAS SPENT DECADES CONVINCING US THAT OUR CLASSROOMS ARE BIASED AGAINST GIRLS. AND, MORE SPECIFICALLY, TEACHERS SUPPOSEDLY FAVOR BOYS. IT'S SOMEWHAT IRONIC HOW PEOPLE WERE LED TO BELIEVE THIS NONSENSE. WOULDN'T Y0U AGREE?

There is one final interesting point: did you know, there were hundreds of schools until the 1970's, which had structural design flaws which allowed every girl to watch the boys while he was unclothed in the locker-room area? In every case, the female teachers were aware of this activity. I'm not suggesting that these females are villains, for simply doing what's natural. however, it's important to make note of this. It proves that girls are unlikely to be punished, even during cases where female teachers caught them spying upon the boys. Also, the female teachers never corrected the design flaws either. thus, the girls continued to occupy these locations, for many many years. Meanwhile, those same teachers would often give detentions to boys, for merely speaking when it's not his turn.

anyway, here's a few excerpts from the study. By the way, they used more complex terminology.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, it was not necessary to perform this study. as, we already knew the results beforehand.

Gender Differences in Elementary School Discipline

Jenny Drake & Sarah Kamplain

Will teachers use different strategies when disciplining boys and girls?

Do boys and girls respond differently to discipline?

We predict that boys are more likely to cease their misbehavior after receiving correcting discipline, and girls after receiving inductive discipline.

Assessed type of discipline preferred by students: inductive or correcting.

If I interrupt my teacher by talking to a neighbor:

A. I should be moved away from others so that I don’t waste any more class time.
B. I would like the teacher to tell me when I become disruptive and remind me of how it would make me feel if someone interrupted me.

The current study’s results support a growing literature suggesting that boys and girls behave –much more similarly than differently. (therefore, it is not necessary to treat boys with greater severity.)

Although there was little inductive discipline implemented, it seems that it would be a more effective means of disciplining students. In fact, students prefer inductive discipline.

In conclusion: People will first deny that boys are treated with harshness.
Then, ironically, you'll then claim that he deserves to be treated as such.
SO, please, make up your mind which direction you choose.
